The Wisdom of Larry the Cable Guy

image1. A day without sunshine is like night.

2. On the other hand, you have different fingers.

3. 42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

4. 99 percent of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

5. Remember, half the people you know are below average.

6. He who laughs last, thinks slowest.

7. Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

8. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese in the trap.

9. Support bacteria. They’re the only culture some people have.

10. A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

11. Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.

12. If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.

13. How many of you believe in psycho-kinesis? Raise my hand.

14. OK, so what’s the speed of dark?

15. When everything is coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane.

16. Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

17. How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?

18. Eagles may soar, but weasels don’t get sucked into jet engines.

19. What happens if you get scared half to death, twice?

20. Why do psychics have to ask you your name?

21. Inside every older person is a younger person wondering, ‘What the heck happened?’

22. Just remember—if the world didn’t suck, we would all fall off.

23. Light travels faster than sound.  That’s why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

24. Life isn’t like a box of chocolates. It’s more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your butt tomorrow.

The Helmet Project

imageI’m a football fan and it’s about that time of year. smile

I ran across a really cool site yesterday called The Helmet Project. Charles Arey started the project a while back and he is documenting the different football helmets for college (all the way down to NAIA) through the NFL. You will also find USFL, CFL and yes, even the XFL. It is interesting how some teams have had a ton of changes while others have remained virtually unchanged.

Some of the colleges have gone through an alarmingly large number of helmet changes. For example Cincinnati has gone through 19 helmet changes since 1960. Michigan, on the other hand, has had three.

The Helmet Project looks like it has been a LOT of work, and if you are a football fan, I’m sure you will appreciate that.

Mr Rogers Pops It and Locks It

Mr. Rogers was the king. Too bad he’s gone and too bad he would probably be considered creepy today. Kids TV was better back then.

Fort Worth Architecture

imageToday I got an email with a link to a really cool site. Photographer Jack White put together a collection of historic Fort Worth photos from the late 1800’s on. I learned a lot. I never knew Fort Worth had an amusement park or a circus. I also didn’t know that Casa MaƱana once had an outdoor venue (pictured right).

I love old architecture because there was so much detail in some of the work. Looking through pictures of old homes (nice ones of course) is like looking through a museum. Its also interesting to see that stuff that is around today was around 80 years ago and even though it looks different, it looks oddly the same.

Like My {Body}?

That’s right kids, brandonmeek.com has a new skin and I’m flaunting it. wink

I moved the old worn out Wordpress site to ExpressionEngine. I’ll outline the process in a week or two when I get a chance. It was actually very easy in my opinion. I’d like to work up a plugin or something that will make it even easier, but we’ll see.

If you are nosing through the site and run into any issues, I would appreciate it if you pass along a message with the problem so I can take care of it.

Enjoy!

What to Do With a Website

I have been too busy. I realized the other day that I have neglected this site for several months now. I have been busy with a new job, several new sites, family and outside work. Leaving home when its dark and returning home when its dark means that the personal site takes the hit. I have finally put some direction to what my personal site is going to be though. I'm redesigning my freelance site, after which, this site will take on a similar look since long term, the two will be very tied together. The point of this post? Well other than to dust off the pings, nothing except to put this stuff in writing on the site, so it will be glaring at me to set aside the time to do it.
